Last Call for Jan Vrijman Fund 2008
IDFA's Jan Vrijman Fund supports documentary filmmakers and festivals in developing countries. Its goal is to stimulate local film cultures and to turn the creative documentary into a truly global film art. The deadline to submit a project for the second and last selection round of 2008 is 1 June 2008. For regulations, the online entry form and frequently asked questions please visit o Applications for funding from the Jan Vrijman Fund are accepted twice a year. The first deadline (1 February) has expired. The next deadline is 1 June. Upcoming Selection Round Starting with the next selection round of June 2008 the Fund can not accept projects from Croatia. As of March 2008 Croatia is a full member of the Media Programme of the European Union which means filmmakers and festivals can now access European Funding. To apply for the next selection round with deadline 1 June 2008, you have to fill out an entryform which you can find on MyIDFA and send us all the necessary documents for your project. Below you can find what documents you have to send depending on the category that you are applying for, as well as information about our selection criteria and the general regulations. Please note that we should already have received your application on the day of the deadline. For more information, please read the Jan Vrijman Fund FAQ. If you still have questions after this, please contact us at janvrijmanfund@idfa.nl Selection Criteria When selecting projects, the Jan Vrijman Fund will not apply rigid criteria but judge each project on its own merits. It is a prerequisite, however, that the filmmaker is a citizen of and lives and works in a developing country as defined on the DAC-list . (PLEASE NOTE: Filmmakers from Russia can apply and as of June 2008 filmmakers from Croatia can not apply). In addition, the contribution must be applied in one or more developing countries. If a producer from a non-DAC list country is attached to the project, it is also necessary that the project has a producer in a developing country. In this case, the application to the fund has to be filed by the producer in the developing country. If the project is supported with a contribution, all distribution rights for the Benelux countries will be reserved for the Fund. General regulations
